Unpopular opinion alert: I do not like chivalry. It’s unnecessary, inefficient, and sometimes it straight up creeps me out. Unfortunately, I live in the South. And the South is ALL ABOUT chivalry.
I’ve been saying for a while now that I was going to start a blog with all of the stupid ways men have insisted on holding the door open for me since I moved here, but then I realized I already have a blog and starting a new one that would only occasionally get posted on would be pretty silly.
So that brings me here, to this post, where I will be sharing some of my favorite dumb ways men have insisted on holding the door open for me. Onward!
A few months ago, my manager asked me to set up a Health Challenge at work. Unfortunately, it took me so long to write the extremely detailed guidebook I created that we lost momentum and it never really took off.
Regardless, I don’t want all the work I put into creating this document to go to waste, so I’ve uploaded it here in the hopes that somebody will find it useful. It lists each of the categories that we determined we would be tracking for the challenge as well as a little information about each one, then includes a section with advice on some of the challenges that my teammates said they struggle with when trying to live healthier lifestyles.

When I was about ten, my mom handed me a book from American Girl called “The Care and Keeping of You 2” and told me to talk to her if I had any questions. I proceeded to read through 96 pages of information for girls who are about to go through puberty. When I finished it, my mom asked again if I had any questions. I apparently had no trouble accepting that I would soon be shopping for bras or bleeding out of my vagina, and I had only one: “Mom, how do I know if I have an eating disorder?”
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything and it’s super lazy for me to come back with this, but it’s one of the best articles I’ve ever seen on the ketogenic diet (extremely high fat and extremely low carb) so I want everyone to see it.
I ran six miles this morning. It took me about an hour. It was HOT. Like, 93º but feels like 105 hot. I lost 0.8 pounds. In an hour. From running. And no, running is not some magical exercise that can make you lose a pound an hour, though I wish it were.
The weight that I lost was water weight. And that was still after I had already drank back 16 oz (about a pound). So let’s talk about drinking water!
I haven’t received my diploma yet, but I am officially done. That makes me the proud new owner of a Masters degree in Engineering Management.
More importantly, however, this makes me the extremely excited owner of infinite free time. Or so I tell myself. Realistically, I still have a full-time job and spend 2-4 hours at aerials classes every day…
BUT GUYS. I HAVE MY WEEKENDS BACK.
So that means I suddenly have time to cook all my meals, keep my apartment clean, hang out with friends, train for a marathon, AND still have time to binge watch Netflix every once in a while… right? 🙂
