When Flying from South Carolina to Wisconsin Takes 14.5 Hours

Ok, so technically I didn’t fly the whole way. And I definitely wasn’t on a plane or in airports the entire time. But I did take a plane, and I started at 9:00 am Charleston time and didn’t get to Madison until nearly 10:30 pm Madison time. So the title is technically mostly true.

Cooper River Bridge Run

I ran a 10k on Saturday!

Ever since I moved to Charleston, any time I mentioned running to anyone, the very first response I got was “oh, are you going to do the bridge run?” Fortunately I have a friend at Clemson who told me about the race before I even moved, so we’d already agreed to run it together and I knew what they were talking about. But I still assumed that their insistence that it’s a really big deal was just Charleston people being proud of Charleston.

Finding a New Home

There’s something weird about visiting a place you’ve essentially never been before, knowing that in just a few weeks you’ll be calling it home. But that’s what I did last weekend, because my job requires me to relocate to a city where I don’t know anyone and that I have only actually been in for a combined total of probably 48 hours or so. It’s a bit scary, but it’s also incredibly exciting.

This weekend had a variety of purposes – chief among them was to find an apartment, which I did with resounding success. But I also wanted to explore the city, see what it has to offer, and get to know the place I’ll soon be living in a bit better.
